George's Postcard Note: After hiking all the way down from our house, we rested in this square in Barga --- practically deserted at mid-afternoon. The shapes caught my eye. Rounded windows and round medallions on the wall behind, curved shapes of the bust in front - it was fun to try to make them work. We walked around a little more, then down to check bus schedules (we weren’t about to walk back up!). Decided to take a cab, engaged ancient driver with ancient car who waited for us as we drank our compulsory Camparisin the bar. Then up we went, up, up the windy road home to supper.
