George's Postcard Note: If you go to Crete, you go to Knossos! Along with everybody else. And so absent from this picture are all those I shared it with. The reconstructions are stunning, whatever their accuracy. Here I enjoyed the juxtapositions, smooth concrete reproductions of columns, roofs and walls against original enormous rough-hewn walls sun, shadow, bright color. Several tourists with their children stopped by to look. A French woman looked and then pronounced the sketch "Very nice." Another, a man, watched for a long time and then photographed the object of the sketch and the sketch.
