George's Postcard Note: After a walk through the ancient ruins of the Agora, we decided to wander off the path into a field of heather and wildflowers to see what views of the surroundings we could find. And what a view we found! This temple, the Hephaisteion, sat on a hillside in the distance surrounded by clusters of cypress trees with ancient marble fragments lying about. The effect was sacred – almost as if time had stood still from the 2nd century AD. Other people wandered by, but did not stop to talk or view the painting. They seemed to also feel the quiet, the reverence and the history.
